Fashion blogs are more efficient than fashion magazines

I'm sure if you are reading my blog by now you have come to find that fashion blogging is way more efficient than fashion magazines. Here's why:

  1. Fashion blogs have more up-to-date fashion news.
  2. Fashion blogs can basically be created by anyone.
  3. Fashion blogs do not have all those stupid advertisements.
  4. Fashion blogs are cheap...and I mean really cheap.
  5. Fashion designers find fashion bloggers more important to the fashion industry.

This dress reminds me of a 20's style dress (classy!) And it is LizClaiborneThere is little gold buttons along the front so I found some shoes that have gold buckles on them to tie in with the dress. Always try to match as best you can!
This dress on the hanger did not look that cute but when I tried it on I fell in love. It accentuates the boob area nicely. The patterns are black and tan diamonds, so I found the same color shoes as the tan diamonds in the dress. This is one of those wrap around dresses. Okay so I'm not gonna lie after I bought one wrap around dress I have kind of gone a little crazy and bought about four others. They just looks so cute on because they tie up in the front.
At thrift stores they have loads of jean dresses. Although jean dresses can be outdated if you pair them with cute cowgirl boots it can bump up the style of your outfit, with a cowgirl look. Oooo what would be cute would be if you wore it with a cowgirl hat!
I
If the dress is too poofy (where it looks like a maternity dress) pair it with a cute belt to accentuate the shape of your body.
This is a very Taylor Swift look. With a fancy dress you can dress it down for a more casual day time activity with cowgirl boots. I love the little fringe along the bottom because it makes it a little more fancier.

Here's what a renound fashion blogger is saying about the controversy of fashion blogs taking over the magazine industry:

Hi Kahtia,
Thanks for writing! It's a very interesting question that I suspect you won't get a firm answer to. It's too new and too transitional. However, I'm happy to offer my take on it.

Right now I think if you're interested in fashion, you read both. Blogs (like Fashionista) are great because you get the news the instant it happens. Just think about the Galliano thing happening now. It will show up as a review article in the April or May issues of mags, but you're hearing of-the-moment info now. I laugh when I read a mag about a "new" product that I wrote about 3 months earlier.

Where I think blogs can't take the place of magazines is in editorial spreads and longer articles. I personally work on a 13-inch macbook, and I much prefer seeing images in print rather than online. I like the tactile sensation of turning pages, too. There's something about a big print editorial that is so gorgeous--not really the same on a computer. And on blogs, people won't take the time to read a 3000 word profile. So there are a lot of amazing writers who are still in mags, and it makes sense. For some reason people don't have the patience to read something long online. That's not to say that there aren't amazing writers on blogs---they're just a bit more limited in the scope and depth of what they can write typically. This might change as more people get tablets, kindles, etc. and can carry a long story around w/them.

Blogs still struggle with this image that they don't do "real" journalism. Totally false. We write in a more relaxed, first person style, but our articles are carefully researched and reported. We have to overcome this idea that we're sloppy. Blogs also haven't figured out how to make a ton of money yet. Magazine advertising is easy--not so easy online. It's something the industry needs to figure out if they want to compete with the mags.

So, I guess I would say people are definitely moving towards blogs, they're definitely a "threat" to magazines, but right now the two are sort of perfectly co-existing.

As far as other things to look into: The Daily for iPad just launched. I'm sure you've heard about it. It's an iPad only news magazine. Very interesting hybrid that many people are skeptical about. And if you can somehow get hold of Brandon Holley, the EIC at Lucky, she would be a great resource. She's trying to incorporate bloggers into the magazine. Very interesting.

Let me know if you have any more questions, and good luck with the paper!

Best,
Cheryl

Hello kittens!
With midterms going on it is so hard to find the time to work. But today I am going to post two of the outfits I wore in the last couple of days. Oh and also, I will post all my fashion show pictures.

If it's short, wear flat shoes or tennis shoes (you don't want to look slutty)

Hello my little kittens
Now I know it has been a whole weekend without hearing from me. I'm tremendously sorry, but I was super busy! Well busy with what you may ask? A fashion show of course! I got the opportunity to be a runway model for "Mia Bella" (add them on facebook http://www.miabellatucson.com/) salon in support of SAAF. If you haven't heard of SAAF, don't despair. SAAF or in other words, the southern arizona aids foundation, was created in southern arizona in support against AIDS. Every year, I usually do the AIDS walk around the University of Arizona campus, but this was a totally different experience for a terrific cause. We arrived around 10:30 am, because there was about 12 girls. I got chosen because a guy from my work came up to me and was like "hey do you want to be in a fashion show?" and I was like "hell yeah I want to be in a fashion show!" Now, this is a once in a lifetime opportunity. The guy who asked me, his girlfriend is the owner of Mia Bella salon. Marylynne is a freaking terrific, talented lady. She has great short black hair and does her makeup awesome. She is one of the few who goes for the bold red lips. I love lip colors on people. In fact, today I am sporting bright pink lipstick. Lip colors just make you look more alive. You know what I'm saying? So anywho back to where I was...about 5 other people from our work were asked to do it so we got to be all together and hang out during the long day. I was asked to open up the show which I was super psyched about because they really like my runway walk! BAM! So I was one of the first to get my hair and makeup done. I will post pictures of this whole experience so that you can actually get a visual of what I looked like. Oh and everyone else of course. I was so excited going around with my camera snapping pictures because I was like "THIS IS FOR MY FASHION BLOG!" I met a bunch of great new friends and I was actually the jokester of the crew, which was nice when everyone is laughing at your funny "runway walks" or your stupid jokes that you come up with. So my hair and makeup got done around like 1ish and then basically it was sit around till 6. But I started on some french homework. Let me emphasize that a little more...I started on my french homework. You see there were these really hott guy models in our crew. One of them was even an Ambercrombie model and was not afraid to bring let us know either. Show off. I was all like "Yeah, they found me after one of the Victoria Secret fashion shows hahaha ;D" I WISH! And well these boys were really distracting because they had their shirts off with an AIDS ribbon painted on their chests. Don't worry I got pictures of that too! When you are actually on the runway and about 500 people are just staring at you...WOW it's an amazing feeling. Our runway was a T shape and it had lights all around the sides. I thought I did pretty dang good, but you don't know until you see huh? Well apparently there is a video of us doing it and if the guy from my work posts it up I will post it for you guys to judge my walk and such. There was some really cool outfits and hairdos. There was this one performance where a pretend Michael Jackson sung, beat it! I know it was SOOOOOO COOOL!! I freaking love Michael Jackson! Isn't he just the best artist of all time?! But I was like this is the best thing in the world so I stood up and started dancing....all by myself. ha i don't care though. anyways I have to head to class. instead of a fashion tip for the day I posted something a little more meaningful to me. Oh and the clothes MIA BELLA is sporting is all from this awesome boutique right off of university boulevard named GRAND CENTRAL. (http://www.facebook.com/l.php?u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.myspace.com%2Fgrandcentralclothing&h=910eb)
I'm going to put up the link so that if you feel passionate about donating towards something that is still effecting our world today then, please I beg you donate. Even if it is just $1.00, or $.10 anything will help in the fight against AIDS. So get inspi[red] and donate. http://www.saaf.org/donate.php

And so it begins...

Hello my little fashion kittens,
Now, I know you must be thinking: "Oh this is just another blog where someone posts crap about what they think other people will care about reading." Well if you got this far into this blog which is approximately two sentences, let me help you in declaring that you, my friend, are one of those people. You have a knack for reading other people's stuff, creeping into other people's lives. In other words, you're a curious kitten. And you know what? That's perfectly okay because I'm going to give you permission. Yes, me personally, to let you snoop as much as you want on this fashion blog. Go ahead take a look. Scroll down the page...sneak through all my pictures (I know we all love to see those pictures)...read all about me. I really don't care because in the end I want you and me to build a honest relationship. I want you to be able to come on here and check all the stuff I post and know you can trust my advice. Because I know a thing or two about fashion. As I was strutting in my gold boot heels with a blue jumpsuit and some Gaga sunglasses on (listening to Gaga music of course) down the University of Arizona mall (which is like our open courtyard) I saw everyone just staring. And I realized that "Wow...there is some bad fashion out there." Now I tell you I walk around school and I see girls dressed in the typical college girl look. Let me describe the look: leggings with a short t-shirt (that does not cover the buttangawang), paired with a hoodie, UGG boots, hair thrown in a messy bun. And you know what? EVERY GIRL does this! Why? Because you are afraid to be an individual. To step outside of the box and just risk fashion. Yes it may be a little scary to walk around not knowing what people may be thinking, but just think about fashion and how it can individualize you and make you out of the norm. Let me tell you people will be talking about you if you follow my advice. Yes, there are going to be those who can't handle your style so you will hear judgemental comments but you know what? Take some time to say right now: "You know what? I don't care what people think about me." You want to know why? Because you do what you want to do and more importantly you wear what you want to wear because one day it will come around to you that with 40,000 kids a boy will say: "Some boys in my dorm were talking about you and how you had such a different style. I said 'Hey! I know that girl too!" Kittens, one day it will happen. I know we are all thirsty for attention so why not give something for your classmates to talk about? From "best dressed" of my highschool help me help you in changing your entire wardrobe and make you a fashion icon!

The shirt must be long enough to cover your buttangawang (butt) when wearing leggings...sorry no one wants to see your chang,
Kat
